Meet Cypriot manufacturers at WorldFood Istanbul 2024!
WorldFood Istanbul 2024 is less than a month away. The exhibition is preparing to bring industry professionals together with hundreds of food and drink brands from around the world.
Among this year’s exhibitors are Cypriot manufacturers that are exhibiting under the umbrella of a joint participation from Cyprus Turkish Chamber of Industry and TRNC Ministry of Economy and Energy. Press and Communications Executive of the chamber, Hüseyin Ezgin answered our questions about their activities and why they’ve chosen WorldFood Istanbul.
What are your activities?
Cyprus Turkish Chamber of Industry was founded in 1977 by manufacturers and industrialists. It is a semi-official economic NGO with 980 members. It is the only NGO that has the authority to organize exhibitions in Türkiye and our country since 2003. In addition to Türkiye, it has organized exhibitions in various countries in the Middle East and Europe for its members and has attended with an umbrella stand under the name of North Cyprus since 2007. The chamber’s goals within this field of activity are to incentivize exports, increase production for exports, reach markets abroad, follow the developments in industries and the like. We’ve seen a lot of benefits of this approach and; exhibitions have contributed greatly in increasing our exports.
Why are you exhibiting at WorldFood Istanbul?
WorldFood Istanbul is quite professional in terms of its visitor profile. It shows big similarities to one of the most important food exhibitions in the world, Dubai Gulfood. Rich exhibitor profile and quality international visitor profile are quite important for us.
Why should industry professionals visit WorldFood Istanbul?
In terms of vision, it is important for industry professionals to visit the exhibition. Diversity of products and countries, the level of quality in products are the other factors. When all of these are combined with a good organization, the exhibition distinguishes itself. Currently, this is what WorldFood Istanbul offers.
What are your thoughts and forecasts about the food industry in Türkiye and the world?
Despite not being on the same level as technological developments, food industry is changeable too. Innovative efforts have started showing themselves in the food industry in recent years. In food manufacturing, a necessity to produce more arises in parallel with the rising world population. Producing more is now possible thanks to technology. However, quality, taste, good food and healthy food shouldn’t be harmed in this process. Tendency towards organic food brings along the question “how organic?” Let alone the regions where chemical pesticides were used in agriculture for years, even regions close to them might not be suitable for organic agriculture and production. It is not possible to forego food. Climate change and rise in population are the two factors that affect food production the most. However, it is ironic that while the rise in population is important for food production in commercial sense, it is also that much challenging in terms of arable land and the climate.
