After graduating from Haliç University Department of Tourism Management, Semi Hakim attended a professional cooking course and continued his career in the kitchen. Throughout his career as a chef, he coordinated research projects aimed towards the Anatolian cuisine and culture, got involved in international culinary diplomacy projects, arranged food events all around the world and assumed roles in projects aimed towards supporting the small-scale food producers in Turkey.

Having founded Kök Projekt together with co-founder Shirley Kaston in 2015, Semi Hakim started working on accelerating the initiatives for food, agriculture and water industries and designing corporate innovation programs. Kök Projekt works with startup teams in international programs to digitalize the good, agriculture and water industries and provide competitiveness to entrepreneurs in global markets. As an ecosystem-growing organization, Kök Project is an acceleration company believing that the sustainability of food and agriculture industries and food innovation should all take place with the initiatives of entrepreneurs.
